Write for us
We welcome pitches that trace a specific cultural connection with care, useful context and a clear reason for readers to follow its journey.
What to pitch
Send a focused proposal about an object, word, foodway, custom or creative form that has moved between communities or settings. A strong pitch identifies the central question, the route or encounters it will examine, and what readers may understand differently by the end.
A careful approach
Show how you will handle context, attribution and differences within communities. Avoid presenting a practice as timeless or claiming a single origin when the story is more layered. We welcome accessible, original work that does not depend on unsupported claims or sweeping comparisons.
How to propose it
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline, the category you think fits, and a brief note about your relevant perspective. Please send a proposal rather than a finished article unless we have agreed otherwise.
Exchange changes what it carries
When something travels, it rarely arrives untouched. We look at the people, places and choices that shape what gets shared and what it comes to mean.
